In a sign of the festive mood, the government has released a list of all major cities, including New Delhi and the capital, which are on high alert.

The government has invited tourists for the first time in years, and it plans to host at least 100,000 people for the big event on Saturday.
Tourism Minister Suresh Tiwari said that a record-breaking 1.75 crore people have visited the country, with more than 1.7 lakh of them in the last two months.
He said that the government plans to organise the grand event at a total cost of Rs 10,000 crore.
