A Florida high school student is facing backlash after a Facebook post linking to a photo of her and her husband kissing has gone viral.
Marianna St. Louis was at the state’s public high school in Pinellas Park on Wednesday to teach English.
The photo shows her husband and daughter, ages 6 and 7, holding hands.
The post on Facebook shows the two holding hands and a caption saying they are “just a family.”
St. Louis’ post has received more than 8,300 likes and hundreds of comments, according to the Tampa Bay Times.
One person commented: “I hate how you think about my husband.
He is my hero.
You’re not worthy of my love and respect.”
The school district released a statement saying: “The actions of this student were unacceptable and should never have been shared.
This was a private and educational event and should not be viewed as public.”
St Louis said she was “just being myself and being able to speak freely and frankly about our relationship.”
She added that she “didn’t mean to be disrespectful to anyone, but was in disbelief” when she read the comments.
St. Los, who is a social conservative, has a history of making comments on social media.
She once wrote on her personal Facebook page: “A gay man and a gay woman are not equal.
That’s why they are separate species.
Thats why they do not get to live in the same space.”
On Facebook, she wrote: “It’s not the gays that get the short end of the stick, but rather the way we treat each other and our families.”
St-Louis has also posted photos of herself and her daughter with a man in a shirt and pants, and posted a photo from her Instagram of a man wearing a shirt with the caption, “I love you.”
